Bungling Bloomberg’s Burnham is setting up Britain for more Betrayal by Brutal Boss Men (3)

–A cynical exploitation of ‘Red Wall’ voters; red wall denotes voters favorable to Labour over past decades; red is Labour’s colour, though it’s a really a right-wing party pretending it’s socialist

Opinion by Mathew Carr

It’s difficult to watch the Makerfield by election in the UK, and not just because it is one of the biggest perversions** of democracy in world history.

The national Labour administration has no good leadership so it’s parachuting the greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham into the top job via this vote.

Burnham is an even worse warmonger than current PM Starmer.

Burnham is willing to change UK debt rules to put defence spending outside the borrowing count for the nation. See this:

This means UK taxpayers (and our kids) will be even more ripped off by billionaire Mike Bloomberg’s beloved banks for the next 100 years.

See this fawning interview by biased Bloomberg at the Bloomberg CityLab event in April. Burnham is not pushed one iota on his clear disregard for the promises he made to win the Manchester mayoralty:

The perversion is just treated as an afterthought.

“Mini Mike” Bloomberg, who failed in his bid to beat Trump and become the US President, is a massive warmonger and debt-slave master now helping give Burnham an influential global platform.

As the American financial media oligarch and 0.1% advocate promotes global violence, Bloomberg also tries to erode the rights of Americans to protect themselves by bearing arms against bad govt such as the Trump administration and its brutal ICE police.

Meanwhile, the ordinary Brits are tired of the global violence and Trump’s unnecessary wars/violence/inflation stoking. They are tired of being taken over by US interests.

They are tired of having their human rights eroded as well as being tired of the government deception.

Even Elon Musk is surprised.

Bloomberg didn’t just bungle his presidential bid but he’s overseen a massive wealth transfer to his clients … especially the banks ….and to fellow billionaires like him. He’s the original tech bro yet hardly gets any scrutiny because the mainstream press is bought by the 0.1%.

This expanding inequality is the biggest leadership bungle in world history. *

Burnham is not for the British people. He’s just another version of fake-change Starmer and fake-change Reform UK …. And these are other versions of the Billionaire-loving Tory party.

It’s a rerun of this:

People of Makerfield.

The Tories betrayed you for 14 years as they promised “levelling up.” Labour has the past two years, too … and with this June 2026 democratic trickery… it’s trying to trick you, again.

Don’t be confused.

Green is your best option.

**The Makerfield by-election on 18 June 2026 is widely considered an extraordinary event in modern British political history, sparking sharp criticism from political commentators, constitutional experts, and opposition parties. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
The five main ways critics argue that the by-election functions as a “perversion” or manipulation of the democratic process include:

1. Treated as a ‘Rotten Borough’ for a Political Comeback [6]

Critics argue that the seat is being used as a historical “rotten borough”—a safe constituency treated with presumption by party elites. The by-election was triggered solely to provide an engineered vacancy for an influential figure currently outside of Parliament. It marks the first time since the 1965 Leyton by-election that a sitting MP resigned intentionally to manufacture a seat for someone else. [1, 6]

2. Forced Resignation of a Sitting MP [1, 7]

The contest was created by the premature departure of Josh Simons, the Labour MP elected just two years prior. Simons stood down amid an internal Labour party revolt against Keir Starmer. This move bypasses the democratic mandate given by the voters of Makerfield, who expected an MP to serve a full term rather than vacate the seat for internal party maneuvering. [1, 7, 8]

3. Serving as a Proxy Prime Ministerial Election [9]

The election has transformed a local contest meant to serve the people of Makerfield into a “proxy Prime Ministerial election”. Andy Burnham has openly stated he will use a victory to launch a leadership challenge against a sitting, democratically elected Prime Minister. Opponents argue this prioritises Westminster high drama and Burnham’s personal leadership ambitions over local governance. [1, 10, 11, 12, 13]

4. Overlap of Local and National Democratic Roles [14]

The by-election tests the boundaries of constitutional rules, as Andy Burnham is running for Parliament while currently serving as the directly-elected Mayor of Greater Manchester. This dual pursuit complicates democratic accountability, leaving voters to question whether a representative can properly champion a specific local constituency while holding an executive regional office. [1, 7, 15, 16]

5. Weaponising a Local Community for Internal Party Factionalism

While the local electorate is traditional, working-class, and heavily swung toward Reform UK, the ultimate prize is the Labour leadership. If Burnham wins, he must pivot to appeal to an overwhelmingly middle-class, metropolitan party membership to become Prime Minister. Critics view this as a cynical exploitation of “Red Wall” voters, treating a neglected community as a mere stepping stone for factional warfare in Westminster. [6, 17]

*Full disclosure— I got fired by Bloomberg in 2020 for calling him out on bad climate leadership.

Look at temperatures now (another major bungle by Labour, the USA and Bloomberg). The world’s poor is now paying the price:

2026 sea-surface temperatures at highest for 125,000 years or so
