Yellen expects US, China will restart talks on climate, economic settings, food security, global debt as bonds sold

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, speaking at a press conference in India broadcast by Reuters, didn’t offer timings for resumption of talks between the world’s two biggest superpowers.

Talks would resume “at an appropriate time.” She had been questioned about China’s consistent selling of its US Treasury holdings.

“I certainly expect we will resume discussions. I’m open to having these conversations.”

Help from China is needed to restructure debt in Zambia and Sri Lanka, she said.

Yellen is in India in part for G20 meetings.
