Nationally determined contributions need about $5.9 trillion up until 2030, according to 1,782 costed needs from 78 NDCs, according to a document seen by CarrZee that’s yet to be published on the UNFCCC website.
There were even more “uncosted needs”; there were 153 NDCs in total.
There were more adaptation needs than mitigation needs.
The developing countries are unlikely to get anywhere near the $5.9 trillion to achieve their NDCs, according to a person familiar with the situation.
The Glasgow talks have not gone anywhere close enough to fulfilling the needs of the emerging countries, which mostly have not caused the climate crisis, the person said.
