I’ve had personal experience with professionally done court transcripts.

That was bad enough. Never again hopefully … yet this is a faint hope.

Everything in all courts should be recorded and made available everywhere (except where victims and whistleblowers need protecting, of course).

Given the AI layoffs until now and in the future, we now have the labour force to do this work properly.

Also, we seem hell bent on overspending on data centers. So we have compute for this audio data. It won’t be cheap. Criminals should pay.

A just society is the biggest protection against criminals, bad capitalists and bad government officials/politicians.

Hold them to account publicly for what they say and do.

Judges need to work harder to ensure what is said in court is super clear. As much as possible….anyhow.

“Costly court transcript fees have meant that victims have had to fork out hundreds – and in some cases thousands of pounds – to access exactly what was said in court to help provide answers and closure,” UK govt admits.

And even then the transcripts are flawed and so their utility is eroded (I hade this more precise in an update).

I’ve suffered a hint of this personally and via research.
