Trovio, in collaboration with EY, has been awarded a multi-year contract by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to deliver and operate the core registry infrastructure supporting Article 6.2 and Article 6.4 of the Paris Agreement and an interoperability hub enabling the integration of national registries.
The Article 6 registries are central to enabling international cooperation on carbon markets, supporting transparent accounting, sovereign participation, and the integrity of cross-border emissions transfers.
The contract was awarded following a rigorous, multi-month competitive procurement process conducted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with the UNFCCC. Under the engagement, Trovio will deliver the core registry infrastructure as the lead service provider, with EY contributing specialist experience across Article 6 mechanisms and broader climate and policy advisory capabilities and delivering front-end user experiences built on top of CorTenX.
The contract represents a significant global endorsement of CorTenX, Trovio’s registry platform, purpose-built for high-integrity, large-scale, multi-asset environmental markets operating at national and international levels.
CorTenX is already in live operation with multiple governments, financial institutions and private enterprises, including the Australian Federal Government’s Clean Energy Regulator (CER), where CorTenX is contracted to provide the underlying registry architecture for all environmental assets in Australia administered by the CER.
By awarding the Article 6 registry contract to Trovio and EY, the UNFCCC has underscored the importance of proven, flexible, production-grade infrastructure to support the operationalisation and scaling of global carbon markets.

Development of the multi‑year programme to build and operate the core digital infrastructure for the Article 6.2 and 6.4 registries is now underway, following the award of the implementation contract.
This work also covers the interoperability hub that will link national and international registry systems.
The selected vendor consortium is led by Trovio, with EY providing expertise in user‑experience.
Once operational, these systems will constitute the backbone of the Article 6 digital ecosystem, enabling countries to securely track, authorise and transfer mitigation outcomes in line with the requirements of the Paris Agreement.
