Trump blames Democrats as he seeks to sneak through trade deals (eg Thailand); is USA willing to protect climate and nature (or just insisting others do that)? (1)

Malaysia agrees to protect environment, says The USA ( but does the USA?):

Malaysia shall adopt and maintain environmental protections, effectively enforce its environmental laws, uphold or institute, as necessary, strong environmental governance structures, and address environment-related issues that contribute to non-reciprocal trade.

Vietnam:

President Trump arrives in Malaysia, a country embracing global carbon markets under Article 6 of the Paris climate deal.

Asia might convince America that markets ARE the most cost-effective way to tackle climate change. This aligns with Trump’s apparent hatred of climate subsidies.

Carbon Pulse snips:

Could USA become a “key source” of UN carbon market demand? Probably! ….despite the Trump optics.

If it doesn’t….the UN carbon markets won’t work very well, because there’ll be too much supply of carbon credits and not enough demand.

USA reticence re co2 markets and recklessness re climate destruction have been the biggest pains in the ass for climate lovers the past 30 years.

The Financial Times’s story on the dispute between China and the US over the operation of the Zion Church in China is couched by the FT as relevant to China’s export limits on rare-earth minerals.

Yet, rare earths are crucial for the climate transition, so here is a mainstream-media outlet understanding that many of the geopolitical rifts ARE INDEED related to the climate talks.

So the “secret” climate negotiations ARE coming into the public light.

Earlier on Friday, the U.S. State Department criticised the Chinese sanctions as an “irresponsible” act that interferes with a private company’s operations and undermines South Korea-U.S. cooperation on revitalising U.S. shipbuilding and manufacturing.

“China’s actions … are the latest example in a long pattern of China’s attempts to coerce (South) Korea,” a spokesperson said in a statement to Reuters.

Yet the second Trump administration has been trying to coerce the world in its first year of office to win investment … it’s played the victim in an irresponsible way instead of tackling global sustainability problems …. and its anti-woke attitude is probably the most irresponsible in world history … especially given America’s outsized contribution to the climate crisis and destruction of nature the past 40 years.

For example, last week the US torpedoed a responsible carbon market for global shipping that was supported by Europe and the UK.

Why do global systems and the powerful billionaire press allow one man (Trump) the authority to destroy so much? This is not acceptable.

China was right about this:

I acknowledge the USA and China might be in cahoots against the interests of the world’s people ….or they might even be secretly trying to draw other nations into a better system.

There is so much deception and propaganda …..it’s difficult to tell what’s true.

China and Trump just increased the chance of better global carbon markets by the end of the year (1)
