A report in the Financial Times Thursday says Liberia backs fee of $18.75 a metric ton (of CO2 I’m assuming), with the Marshall Islands wanting $150 a ton.
EU December carbon futures today are at €72 on ICE this morning in London, which is equivalent to $74. That’s a pretty nice mid point…and towards enough to incentivize emission reduction projects and better fuel efficiency.
The FT report cited University College London as saying at least $100 is needed to get a transition away from fossil fuels going.
CarrZee: a good portion of the revenue raised (almost all of it) should be going to developing countries who have not caused the climate crisis.
