The strategically incompetent traffic jam at London university Gaza encampment (4)

By Mathew Carr

May 14, 2024 *– I just walked past the Gaza protest at Queen Mary University…London…

…the authorities seem to have “created” a traffic jam outside the university to rile motorists up.

Drivers were very angry … leaning on their horns. The busy road was unnecessarily made one way instead of two way.

Five reasons why the traffic jam seems a little “on purpose”; on the bright side the protesters should be getting fewer emissions from the traffic as the peeved drivers and their emitting vehicles are about 10 more meters away:

1. The gas works that are the excuse for the road closure are not really happening. All they did was pull up some pavers.

2. The gasworks don’t even exist according to gas company Cadent’s own website.

I searched for that number … using the data matrix code at the website. No results were found

3. The authorities are probably attempting to demonise “woke stuff” … so the Tories have a chance at winning in the national election in the next 8 months or so….angering motorists about protests is one way of doing it. They are already doing it with “just stop oil” protests and those about the Ultra Low Emission Zone, which was expanded throughout greater London.

4. Coincidences are rarer than you think.

5. The barriers near the university protests are improbably large.

There is no real digging — it’s true these works did begin BEFORE the encampment started — I agree it’s very strange – several onlookers said so

A better look at the context of the encampment and traffic issues; see this video:

(*I updated the story on May 16 — added context about emissions being further away — earlier corrected dates and Cadent screenshot — apologies for the confusion)

The demands — so far the university is not engaging (as of May 14*): said a protest leader who didn’t want to be identified
