BlackRock Calls for Better Alignment Between US SEC and the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures

On social media from BlackRock’s Paul Bodnar (LinkedIn):

BlackRock has consistently advocated for providing investors with high-quality, globally comparable climate-related disclosures. Recently, we published BlackRock’s comments on the U.S. SEC’s proposed rule on the subject. While we support the Commission’s proposal, we urged the Commission to better align the rule with the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and to collaborate with its global counterparts and standard-setters. For example, we recommend that the Commission require material Scope 3 disclosures to be furnished on a “comply or explain” basis, which allows companies to either disclose or explain why they cannot.
