三次拍打官员 –Keir Starmer’s claim the UK has no money is complete bollocks — China just called it out (1)

三次拍打官员=three pats officials came up with this British EV 'scheme'

Opinion by Mathew Carr

July 21, 2025 — The UK, on behalf of mum and dad British taxpayers, wants to spend £650 million on new electric vehicles subsidies, because it is worried its 2030 targets for clean transport won’t be met.

China just showed that’s a waste of money, by cutting the price of its vehicles by exactly the same amount. (China seems to be excluded from the new UK program, proposed and implemented last week. China called for fairness, according to the Financial Times).

The fact that British politicians think they can afford to pay £650 million in corporate welfare when there are much better ways to incentivise EVs (eg carbon pricing) is absolutely astonishing to me.

It shows that the “fiscal headroom” crisis is completely made up.

Tax corporations, rich people and middlemen properly and the crisis also known as “the lack of fiscal wiggle room” is over in a flash. Here’s another idea: regulate recreational drugs properly to raise a new stream of government revenue and erode the criminality. That will also save money for the National Health Service and the police.

China is clearly showing that multinational carmakers do not need the money. Competition is encouraging vehicle-price drops.

Buy a Chinese EV today and help save the climate AND British taxpayers.
