The world is getting sick of strong leaders who pretend to lead for everyone, but then fail to live up to that promise.
President Trump pretended to be for the common men and woman yet vastly increased the divide between rich and poor.
Now, in India, the world’s biggest democracy, PM Modi is facing on Thursday a “no confidence” vote after some political wrangling by a group of more than 20 opponent parties.
Modi has the numbers to defeat the motion, but he is being forced to enter a debate about leadership while being accused of not confronting the sexist tendencies in the Indian population…including among his own supporters.
Modi has an opportunity in his speech to bring women onto his side and erode the division some say he has already sown.
Let’s hope he takes that chance.
