I’m wanting to make sure you are aware of this:
The protection of the right to freedom of expression
The right to freedom of expression is protected by Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), and given legal force through Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
At the European level, Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights (European
Convention [which is not an EU thing, btw, and the UK must comply]) protects the right to freedom of expression in similar terms to Article 19 of the ICCPR.
Article 19 of the ICCPR and Article 10 of the European Convention require States to guarantee to all people the freedom to seek, receive or impart information or ideas of any kind, regardless of frontiers, through any media of a person’s choice; this also includes the Internet and digital media.
See this source report:
So,
Existing laws “require States to guarantee to all people the freedom to seek, receive or impart information or ideas of any kind, regardless of frontiers, through any media of a person’s choice; this also includes the Internet and digital media.”
